After reading a few posts I am a bit worried about a few of my red wags. A few of them are very fat, although I dont think they are pregnant because I dont see a gravid spot in any of them. They do have white, stringy poop. I gave them a few peas today to see if they were just constipated... but one of them is staying in one spot and it looks like shes "panting". Do they have internal parasites or constipation? Should I treat them or do a water change?

Wilder, I know you can help :D

White stringies are usually associated with internal parasites. Constipation is a no go situation. I've never had this problem with livebearers, just angels. The angels get treated with metronodazole in a situation like that, I imagine the same would apply to livebearers. If some of my platys acted that way they would get fed a pea or 2, wait a couple of days, & if they weren't better they'd get the metro treatment.

Thanks for your reply. I just bought some parasite tablets to put in the tank... the only problem is it says parasites make the fish thin and my fish are extremely fat. I hope tomorrow they look more normal

My guppy is doing the same thing... Like shes in the back of my tank by the heater near the top and it looks like shes panting too..... Not all the time though....
So your just adding a pea to the water? Like is it a frozen pee? A cooked pee? Kinda confused...

Yep, I added a shelled pea... and they ate it, they are still pretty fat and have stringy poop, but look happier.

Cook peas for a few minutes in boilingf water, cool down, pop out of shell and squeeze in between fingers, add to the tank,

Three times a week, if they carry on with the long stringy white poo, you will have to medicate the tank for internal parasites, good luck.

Well, the one fish that was doing the worst looks awful... shes not going to make it :-( She is on the bottom by the rock, earlier she was nose down in the gravel... she moved after a bit. I hope my others make it.

Have you an airstone running, is that the one we have been trying to help.

JEN21 - How are your fish? I think im battling the same thing with my fish. I have chose to medicate the whole tank. Im using "Anti Parasite Medicated Fish Food" made by "Jungle". Good Luck and I would like a update!

Yes how's your fish doing.
