Is he about to die???

One of my tiger barbs looks sick. He is very slow. And barely swims, just floats there. And when he is actualy swimming he swims a tiny bit then it seems like he is lossing his balance, he starts rolling over looks like about to die then he slowly regains his balance and swims a few inches and it happens again. What is going on here

Seems to me like swim bladder disorder.

The book I consulted (sort of old) says there's no real remedy known. Suggests moving the fish to a shallow tank with a 9F temp increase. Treta with antibacterial meds and/or aquarium salt.

Try feeding some frozen peas, This often helps with swim bladder disorder.

Yes, it sounds like Swim Bladder problems to me too. Regarding feeding the frozen peas, which ALL my fish love, thaw them first, squeeze them to remove that outer shell, crush them a little so they are bite sized bits and introduce into the water. Hope your Barb makes it. This is a worrying time for you.
