my poor betta is so sick... about 5 days ago he started developing a lump between his eyes, and the size has been steadily increasing. it's now about 1/3 of a centimeter. i've no idea what it is.

yesterday, one of his eyes popped out. i read that if it's just one eye that pops, it's probably due to injury or trauma, and isnt pop-eye. is this correct?

and now today, that side of his face is all swollen, he's very lethargic, and he cant eat. he's been lethargic since last night, and then he didnt want to eat... but today he tried, and he cant seem to get any food into his mouth. i tried every fishy food i have, and none of them, no matter how small, will get into his mouth.

and just now i've noticed that the scales on the bump, and on the side of his face with the pop-eye, are starting to stand up.

i think i have to euthanize him, but i really dont want to. but i also dont want him to suffer. i'm so upset...

can anyone tell me if there's anything else i can do?

:-( please help me out...

Sorry to say this but according to your post, your betta has gone through a lot and it's going to be hard for him to recover.....I would euthanize him if i were you....It's hard to do but sometimes you have to do it....I know how it feels i have to euthanize 2 of my Discus that got sick and i'd rather end their suffering quickly instead of waiting for them to die painfully.....

I am so sorry for your loss. :-(

i know exactly how you feel though. The same exact thing happened to my betta at the begining of the week. I had him for 3 1/2 years. There was just nothing I could do for him

sorry to hear about your loss. fish tumors are so rough b/c there's nothing one can do about them. post some pics if you get a new betta

I'm sorry to hear about your buddy  that's so sad, but not to be insensetive, but how'd you know the bump was cancerous?

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I had a australian pigmy rainbow that had a lump by its fin which it had for about 2 months and eventually died. On my other remaining rainbow I have discovered a lump on its chin the other day. Would anyone know what these lumps are, and how to tell if they are cancerous or treatable? None of my other fish have ever been affected by lumps etc.

Cheers

Steph
