I do an automatic monthly donation to the ASPCA in the amount of $25.00 but have done some research and find that only ~50% of donations go to animals and their CEO makes over a million per year. I'm considering canceling my donations. Here is my source:

that's the same for almost all charities and non-profit these days...and 50%??!?
usually it's 10% or less specially for overseas donations
I found this out when I did co-op in high-school
let's say you're donating 100 bucks to red cross in africa
so you go and donate at verizon or something because it's easier...
they take a 50% cut and give it to a non-profit
that non-profit will in turn take 50% from that plus admin fees which varies from charity to charity (let's not even include admin fees just for the ease of checking how much dollar value is sent)
send that money to africa but to everyone else but red cross...so they can cut another 50%
then give it to red cross which is turn pays cost of living..accommodation for doctors/volunteers and its own staff
so those 100 dollars became 50 after verizon then 25$ at the first non-profit then 12.5 to the first charity overseas...then 6.25$ reaches red cross
take haiti for example...charities received billions of dollars when they had an earthquake years ago...
people donated canned goods...tons of water bottles as they water facilities went kaputz
then these charities somehow figured that it was "cheaper" to buy the food there than to send the donated food
and just gave it away which in turn caused the price of food in haiti to reach sky-high prices because there was no food to go around and these non-profit were spending the money anyways
locals couldn't afford to buy food so it went into theft which turned into somewhat like a civil war...
then they dumped the water in fields as it was more expensive to send than the price of water itself (they had no drinking water)
that's how much of your money gets to it's intended target and how it's used ^^
now when you do give local...
you have angelina jolie...with 1million she built a village that turned into a city with people building houses nearby and just increasing slowly in size
give local and stop spreading this non-profit (for profit) trend of companies
