morning all, i was wondering if i get a little air powered filter or maybe a little internal to run alongside my eheim 2028 and fill it with filter wool/floss will it clear up all the little floating particles in the water,

i have some filter wool/floss in the top tray of the eheim 2028 but its not catching all of it.

i just want to get the water just that little bit cleaner.(waters not dirty but floating bits getting on my nerves) so any advice would be great.

A power filter will overpower the air operated one. You probably won't see any difference. Perhaps try adding more filter wool to the Eheim.

Do you do regular water changes? This will help keep the water very clear. The best option if you want crystal clear water is to pick up a cheap, small, canister filter and just have it filled with filter wool which you replace every couple of weeks.

Something like the link below would do the trick nicely. Just take out the bio media and put in filter wool.

You dont want to over fill your current filter with filter wool as this will restrict the flow and actually make the problem worse (not to mention making the biological filtration less effective).

The other advantage is that although you are using the second filter only for mechanical filtration it will grow good bacteria within it as well so if you main filter ever fails you have something there as a backup . Also over filtering a tank is never a bad thing :)

Try seachem purigen, it 'catches' floating particles and makes your water crystal clear, it is a powder. I have never used it but powple who have i know hav gave it a good rating. Type it in on google then go to seachems home page, it wil give you detailed info on all their products.

Yeah purigen is supposed to be very, very good. It can be recharged as well so you dont have to buy new stuff every month or two.
