I'm considering the purchase of a SeaClear 30 Gallon Aquarium with Eclipse 3 "all in one" hood. The "all in one" feature sounds nice but what are the drawbacks to this system?

I believe you are referring to the hood that comes with a light, filter(with biowheel). Does it have a heater as well? I have read that people who have these tanks are very happy with them as they provide good filtration and lighting. Keeping the filter and heater out of the tank would be nice.

yes i have a tank with the filter light heater in the hood with a bio wheel and i have to say those filters are very good the best i have (i have only ever had fluval plus filters and a undergravel) but i don't have much to compare to though but they keepm the water crystal clear :D

Well.. I opted out of the SeaClear setup because of price.
Instead went with "standard" stuff....
- 29 gal Topfin Glass tank
- Emperor 280 Bio-Wheel
- Topfin 100 wat 10" heater
- 23" "bubble wall"

Now to decide what I'm gonna put in it....
