and my tanks 3 uk gallons

Try Google rather than here - the common recommendation seems to be 5/6 G with some recommending 24x12x12 which is about 10G
If you have a 3G gross tank remember that the substrate, glass thickness and air space at the top will all reduce the net water volume.
I admit I don't have a lot of experience with tanks this small as my fry tanks are 10 UK G gross

If you think 3G is fine, try it

5 US gallons is the minimum, the main reason being they are messy and it helps to keep stable conditions for them.

On the calculatpr you 3 UK gallon = 3.6 US gallons

YOu would need a 4.2 UK gallon = 5 US gallons.

They may be small but they do like the room!

Lastly just to friendly point out, the pinned article does say "This is a little lower than I would be willing to house my puffers in, as I'm occasionally slack with water changes. However, if you're very particular about water changes, and can find an effective filter for a 3 gallon tank that will cope with the waste, you're looking at 3g for a single dwarf puffer". You would have to be REALLY up on the water changes and watching the parameters. I still would say 5g as it benefits you and the puff. ;)

I go with a very minimum of 5 gallons per puffer ideally as I said in the other thread. Minimum tank sizes will vary but it's best to go for more than a minimum and I feel 3 gals isn't big enough.

well i think im gonna go with it and upgrade in a few months to a 5-10 gallon

If that is your choice then go for it. Just be aware puffs are particualrly sensitive to nitrites and ammonia and a 3g is not going to allow much room for error. The puff will particularly love the 5-10g and will love you for it :)

All the best, piccys when get setup going!

What filtration are you going for? If you go for a smaller tank than some recommend then you will need even more filtration to go with the weekly 50% water changes.

well the hob one with it and a filter i got with a 12 gallon

lll have a look in a sec

the hob is 120lh
and the other one is 380lh

so 50 times an our roughly

You'll be happier with a larger tank for the dp. I moved my dp from a 10g to a 5g and am kinda regretting it. The 10g had no problems and didnt even need a water change ever week. The current 5g, has to have a 50% water change a week to keep the tank clean. I would imagine a 3g being a nightmare.
