I am really interested in having a sorority of bettas. Would it be okay to have 3 female bettas in a 5 gallon tank or is that too small for them. I currently have one betta in a 5 gallon but I would like to rescue some more bettas since I have an empty 5 gallon sitting around.

I think the max for a five gallon is just one betta, but with extra water changes two females is possible.(If they don't fight, which isn't likely).

I'd recommend at least a 15 gallon tank for a sorority. two female bettas will probably fight. you should keep them in groups of 6 or more to disperse aggression. They also need densely decorated setups to define territories.

I really wouldn't risk that.

Sororities should have more females so that there aren't as many fights.

6 is a good number... but if you only have a few there will probably be some ripped fins

Its very cramped in a 5 gallon so this will probably lead to more fighting. I would go for a 20 gallon with 6ish females.
