Ipod Shuffle Vs Zen Stone

I would go with the Zen Stone Plus. One of my friends had a shuffle and it was made of flimsy thin plastic. I don't care for its layout. Creative is a very reliable company and has been making some of the nicest sound products out there.

The new shuffles are made of aluminum.

I forgot to list the goods and bads.

Good: iTunes is the king of digital music sales, iPod is the standard against which all other digital music players are measured, Apple has hands down the best customer service department you'll find.

Bad: you'll probably pay a little more for the iPod (never priced a zen though so maybe not), no screen, it's real small so you may misplace it.

Creative always outscore apple for the sound quality in serious magazine reviews (i.e. not fanboy publications) and let's be honest, you are really buying this to listen to music with.

Creative invented the software playlist system that Apple have copied.

I seem to recall that Creative has better compatibility to other formats of files (though apple may have rectified this).

iTunes is no great thing for buying music, and there are many free pieces of software that handle music much better (Amarok especially so).

If you use a Mac as your computer then an iPod is probably best for ease of integration. Otherwise I would be looking at the Creative. They have been doing mass storage systems longer than Apple (Creative Jukebox anyone) and go for substance over style.

True, when I say that iPod is the benchmark it really has more to do with the design and functionality. And even then it's because they are the overwhelming player of choice.

But the new iTunes plus files sound incredible, and paired with a good set of headphones I'd bet that the sound quality disparity all but disappears.
