Hi all

one of my tetras has got a white spot on its side. It's a decent size, probably about as big as a pin head, and although it wasn't there this morning, it was there 8 hours later when I got in from work.

My Water parameters are stable (same as they have always been) and nothing new has been added to the tank for weeks.

Problem is, with christmas upon us I'm out of cash so can't afford a hospital tank right now, and I have shrimp and snails, so I have to be careful with what I use to medicate the tank... can anyone recommend me a treatment that is safe to use with inverts please?

Hope someone can help
Willow

I have safely used Super Ich Cure by API (both liquid and powder) with my shrimp. They didn't seem affected at all, however I would still use half dose because I full dosed my tank and it killed my neons...They're quite sensitive.

errrm... I'll wait for some other replies before I use that... I don't wanna kill my neons :-(

lol they where they where the ones infected with ick  And i think all tetras are sensitive to meds

Even though your not in Australia you maybe able to locate a product with these exact active constituents 2.4g/L mafenide HCL, 3.3g/L aminacrine HCl, and 0.4g/L Malachite Green. I have used this with tetras, loaches and shrimp and never had any issues or deaths because of it. The lable is one of the few I have found that does not state using it at half dose for fry, tetras or loaches. I must admit I was weary of using the product in one of my shrimp tanks but figured I have that many cherry shrimp I would risk it to cure the black noen tetras. The cherry shrimp have never looked back and all the other tank inhbitants are fine as well. There are also Bristle noses in the tank and they had no problems from the treatment eaither.
