Helloooooo TFF,

So, for the past few weeks, fish have been on my mind. I'm really into Invertabrates, and I have been Highly considering an invert-only tank or a Betta. Or, maybe putting them both in the same tank. So, since I really cant decide, I'm letting the people of TFF decide for me. Vote on the poll(above) and any advice can go in the reply section.

P.S. I edited this to make the 'yes' into 'Invert only' and the 'no' into 'Betta only'

Ok, iv made MY desision. Im getting a betta(with shrimp?) later this week, and an invert only tank in the near future! :good:

thanks,
hihi100202 :D

the betta will be in a 2 gallon tank.(the one with the dragon in the backround, it looks kool.)

go for one or the other not both!!!!

shrimps in my betta tank tore at his tail he still has finrot from it. I had to move them.

it's a tough decision i know

That tank is too small for a betta you could have 1 ADF and some shrimp at a push.

Never heard of that happening before my betta has never had any problems

Yaa never herd of that either... what kind of shrimp were they? I'm getting ghost shrimp.

Ghost shrimp is a generic name normally covering marine aswell as freshwater and fed as feeder shrimp so their incompatibility with water chemistry doesn't matter. Machrobrachium and paleamonteas (don't think I spelt it correctly). Paleas are fine shrimp although they grow quite large. machros are nasty buggers and also grow quuite large and will eat or trim your fish.

a 2g tank is NOT too small for a beta. Most people recommend 1g, but for a male I would say 2g would be plenty. As long as you have a small filter and keep up with water changes, a 2g will be perfect for a nice male and some ghost shrimp.

When I breed betas, I put the males in 2g jars and the females in 1g or 8-10 to a 10g.

then you sir ARE CRUeL!

How? They have plenty of filtration, water changes every other day, plenty of swimming room, get fed 3 times a day, and most of all they have a place to call home! Much better than a lfs and all the betas out there in 1 liter bowls!

What do you suggest tank wise for a single beta?

I'm getting a .8 gallon tank for my betta(changed my mind again) and bettas (for just 1) only need a 1 gallon tank!

P.S. rest in peace, michael jackson!

The thing about ghost shrimp is that it's a generic name for small shrimp that are used as feeders, it can be applied to marine shrimp, brackish shrimp, young macrobrachium shrimp, or actual freshwater glass shrimp, like these, or these. When you buy them only get the ones which are hovering in the water or are holding green eggs, these are the real glass shrimp. I was lucky enough to find some of these and they are great.
