So, I am building a little 5g tank to house edible inverts: Scuds, water fleas, seed shrimp, assorted worms, etc. These critters are more than fish food; they are really fascinating to watch in their own right, and deserving of their own tank.
Last night I had a vivid, wonderful dream about finding a little pond in a foothill cave that was full of all of the above, as well as two different kinds of really interesting looking snails. The Badgerling and I had a great time running the hand net through, putting lots of critters in a dixie cup I happened to have in my pack, and bringing them home to the tank. Woke up happy.
Meanwhile, in the real world, it's February in the Wyoming foothills, lows below 0F, and the local ponds won't see any open water for at least another month or two. I ordered seed shrimp eggs off ebay; the rest are going to have to wait. sigh. ?
