Hey there! I'm Britta and I'm fairly inexperienced to the whole fishkeeping hobby, hence why I wanted to join this forum, haha. I really needed somewhere I could go to ask questions with more experienced people who care about their aquatic friends.
I stumbled into the hobby by accident--my kids won some goldfish at a carnival and I've been doing my best to keep them happy and alive for the last three years. The only fish I've kept before that point were the occasional betta fish. I currently have one lil koi betta in a 10 gallon as my nightstand buddy. I recently moved the three comet goldfish from that carnival visit into a 145 gallon tank, since they outgrew the 55 I've had them in for the last two years. They currently reside with a common pleco that I stupidly bought two years ago to help with the algae issue I was coming into. (The store employee didn't tell me I should just be using an algae brush and doing more frequent water changes; she only sold me two tiny common plecos and assured me it would be fine. I was really surprised to see how fast the two grew and how much worse it made my tank.) I have the second common pleco still in the 55 gallon by himself. I'm hoping to add some more fish with him once I figure out what kinds would be best--and hopefully not outgrow the 55 like my goldfish did. ?
