Oh my god i couldnt help myself.....

I GOT A NEW BOY!!!!! He is another VT but god dam he is amazing. I fell in love with him. I also had to rescue him from his gross algea infested cup he was in.

His name is NightLight :)

A gorgeous dark blue colour and reflects so nicely. He has a foil blue look to him that shines up as light reflects on him. Hes bigger than my other boys so i think he may be slightly old. Perfect VT fins. Hes out exploring his tank and buddys right now. I moved Shimmer my PK into my large 3ft tank which he was in originally and he is resettling in really well...i think. He ate the food with the rest when i put it in. But he is hiding behind the pipe. Its a massive tank so it will take him a few days to get use to it. He shares with an old slow gourami who hasnt grown in over two yrs, a lonely neon, 2 clown loaches, 2 bristol noses and 4GBRs. I have my eye on the rams. They arent even going near him.

Now i have 3 pretty boys :D I cant wait to see him flare!

:shout:

I wanted to rescue all 12 because their water was so feral but i couldnt. There were two bright red ones and one multi coloured one. Im wondering though, is it possible for a VT to have a dorsal fin nearlly double the size in length? There was one there and half way down his tail was bright red then it got all thin and see through.....

I had to be carefull when putting NightLight into his new home as to not get his water in the tank incase it was germmy. He is loving the new clean water!

..pics to come...

Here is a few pics. He isnt use to flareing yet so i couldnt get a full flare out of him. He is still settling in so in a few days we will see.

He is so much bigger than Ramjet. Ramjet is nearlly a year old and this boy is about 3times the size...

Pretty boy - great catch! See through fins on bettas are fairly common, it's called cellophane fins and is usually part of a butterfly marking.

Butterfly can be a combination of any colours :good: As long as there is a definate even pattern covering all three fins :good:

aww he is lovely! where did you find them?

I got him from a pet shop called PetStock in rural Victoria/Australia. He seems to be settling in well. He loves chasing the bubbles the air stone creates. Im keeping my eye on the water quality to make sure nothing transferred with his algea ridden water.

It didnt look as pretty as that though Bronzecat. It looked like his fins had kept growing and there was no colour to them. And it was only his droopy tail (forgive the lack of terminology) that had the extra non coloured bit. I thought maybe he was a CT with a hgue tail but he had normal VT fins.
