Hello TFF! I go by Bri, married, lots of animals in the house. I'm a nurse by profession/ career but fish keeper and life-long learner by hobby. I've had many tanks growing up, on and off over my 40 or so years, and prior to my last year off from keeping fish (due to work/covid/moving), had a 90-gallon reef tank and 55-gallon African cichlid tank. Now, having finished the move to our house, we have a 167-gallon + 47-gallon sump for our 3 Oscars and clown loaches, 10-gallon guppy, 55-gallon African Cichlid (tropheus), and setting up the future of what may be a discus tank. Since I travel for work, I'm gone 3-4 days a week out of the state, but family manage the tanks for those days. I have truly loved many parts of the hobby but after my reef tank learned that I truly love freshwater tanks and the options are so much wider than they used to be.
I like to try different things- for example, one tank has sump and refugium on freshwater, another has 2 HOBs and a sponge, the other HOB, and still another with canister. I like seeing how different systems affect the care and comfort of my aquatic friends. My next tropical fish goal is Paladarium or Terrarium -i've only ever had full water tanks so looking for a new level- we shall see! Thanks for having me in your forum (after the last 3-4 years on the reef forums) and cheers!
