Does anybody has internal filters running in your aquariums ? If so can you please answer some questions for me ?
I'm trying to find the way to replace my HOB filters bcause I'm tired of hearing the noise of water falling back into the tank .

Are internal filters sade for fish ?
Is the water flow under water safe for the fish or will cause stress on the fish ?
Do they make any annoying noise ?
Would fish be ok with the waves the filter cause under water ?
Are they easy to cean n take care of ?
Can you recommend a good working internal filter for a 125 gallons tank ?

Thanks in advance

Hey Tyler !

Try to bring your water level higher, so instead of flowing trough the surface, water flows on the surface.

At this point, it should be completely silent.

I dislike internal filters. For a 125, one would have to be huge. It's very easy to forget to clean them, and they are vulnerable to power cuts.

If the water level is kept at the right height, as @MaloK suggested, HOBs make no splash. If the filter is sitting on the top rim properly, then the outlet for flow should meet the water level in the tank. I never do top ups, because when the level drops, why not do a partial water change anyway? It's just basic maintenance.

What temperature are you running the tank at, relative to the room temperature?

Everytime I fiil the tank up to stop the noise it last maybe a week n then I guess because of the lights the water evaporates a little and the noise starts again. I'm kinda of tired of that. I know it's part of having tanks but it's driving me crazy

Once a week is not that bad, I have to top all my tanks twice.

Before changing your filter, think about the job you did to get this one seasoned and well established.

Is it really worth it ? BTW what is the make and model of your current filter ?
