Alright, I've had some nitrate problems in my 5 gallon tank, which led to ich. I've separated the oto and the pygmy cory so that I can add salt to the 5 gallon. The cats are in a 1 gallon tank, and I'm doing daily 60% water changes.

The pygmy cory has red spots on his face which looks like internal bleeding. In addition, his nose looks like it has been bitten off! I've tried taking pictures, but they do not turn out clear enough to see the red spots or his nose.

Other than the daily water changes, is there anything I can do to help him?

I'm off to go look up the symptoms -_-

Alright, according to the symptoms (red spots/patches or reddish streaks), it sounds like the pygmy cory has septicemia, a bacterial infection often caused by high ammonia. It is accompanied by hyperventilation and can be treated with Maracyn-Two.

I don't know if it would explain the problem with the cory's mouth... maybe it is accompanied by body fungus? :dunno:

I need some second (or more) opinions on this. Thanks in advance :)

think we got problem solved in chat. did not want the post to look like you were being ignored though.
