I've recently seen a lot of interesting plecs, and my friend has recently got a golden nugget plec free with a tank he got. Its amazing! but i gather theyre rather pricey and he doesnt want to sell it to me lol. I was curious if people could post some plecs on here which are interesting to look at (bright spots/stripes etc)but wont break the bank with a rough price for each. Sorry if this thing annoys you but Ive only really ever seen bn plecs, and need a interesting plec in my tank lol.

I can't remmebr the L no but look at Galaxias or Vampire plec usually no more than £20 and good looking

Its a great pleco but it will get quite large around 9.5" so need a large tank. The L no is L240/L007 I think

How big is your tank? What and how many fish do you have in there?

tank is empty at the min as ive only just got it. its a rio125...so 125 ltrs. only has ocean rock and crushed coral substrate.

I recommend Peckoltia Vittata, L168, L052 and Clown Pleco. They should do fine in your tank and they are only around £20 maximum.

or get a an expensive plec as a youngster at half the cost :hey:

Think I'm going to have to go for galaxias. It's just so pretty :) lol. Got any more info on then? Will it be fine with cichlids and ocean rock? Or should I hide some bog wood at the back of the tank if I get one?

The plec you've mentioned gets way to big for a 125litre tank, also your having cichlids?, im presuming your on about African ones... IE need higher PH?..... there isn't actually any species of plecs that will be ok at them sort of ph's. Someone will come along now and tell you they have kept a plec in a malawi tank and it has been fine..blah, blah..blah... this still doesn't mean that the fish was thriving, just means the fish was surviving.

If i was to keep a plec in them sort of conditions, i would opt for a bristnose of the common variety. They probably have the most adaptation powers in regards to parameters and will be far more suited than any other species commonly found. Im still not condoning adding one but this would be your best bet.

where could i pick up a youngster???? links?? thanks :)

i have an L190 royal panaque for sale if you can get to Leicester at all..... £35 ono. its about 5 inches at the minute but its a very very slow grower so would be fine in your tank for a few years at least :good:

appreciate the offer, and have seen your advert.....lovely looking fishie....but too expensive at the minute for me mate.

oh and thanks for the link....cool looking but again too much....im only thinking £20 as the very most for a fish at the minute.
