you will be lucky to get one second hand. we are all using them.
the entire kit is the only way to get this.
it costs £12.99, from fish and fins.

had the same problem with my old Hydor-Prine 30. had to buy the whole kit, just for the intake guard.
worse still, i found the original, as i was fitting the new one. D'Oh.

yeh i no i may try make something, just gone home and found a decent size melachromis cichlid stuck in pipe, only been in two days and only fort this a.m. i must put something over it GUTTED knocked second filter off for now sort it tonight, may have to try knock something together or like u say order a whole kit

I've got a green Eheim one you can have if it's any good.....fits onto a 22mm pipe (outer diameter).

I lost a 5p sized silver dollar the same way.

I've had a look and cant find the extra guard. or I'd have sent it to you FOC.
we Cumbrians have to stick together. lol
