I've actually seen these insects in my yard and around my house before, but with much duller coloring than the ones in the article...

Had no idea they were called "sharpshooters"...
 
You've obviously not spent much time around kindergarteners. :lol: The weirdness is all part of the fun.
I taught a class of pre-schoolers who were special education for a homeschool project for a day. I know 😂
It was definitely a really fun experience.
