Anybody swapped the ribbed hoses on a fluval filter to fit a hydor inline heater?

Not swapped on a fluval, but installed a hydor with my eheim. The heater lasted about 6 months before I came home to a cold tank. I've switched back to an internal as I've read numerous times from others that theirs has done the same, or even cooked the tank.

Anybody else had this problem? I'm in two minds now what to do

Just get one, absolutely any heater can fail, My advice would be to get a higher rated one if you're on the cusp of sizes, and ensure that it's positioned in a way that no trapped air can get lodged within it, (trapped air will lead to hot spots) run your filter for an hour or so before switching heater back on after a water change/filter maintenance.

Cheers Kirk, I'm off to chilton this afternoon to get the hoses
