Hi, I have come home today and noticed that one of my guppies is missing most of its tail and one of my neons has something on its tail and bottom fin. Can anyone help me with what to do? Thanks
Hi, the white on the neons tail doesn’t look either bumpy and doesn’t appear to have any white dots. And my tank is 54 litres I do a 25%-30% water change every week and clean my filter once a week when I do the water changeThe guppy’s tail can be fixed with daily 50%+ water changes.
Are the white things on the neon tail bumpy? Do they look like small white dots?
How often do you preform water changes? How big is the tank? How often do do you clean the filter?
Looks like it may be fungus? I would need other members thoughts before I recommend treatment.
If it is, the best medication is API general cure. Start looking into this, as you may have to get it.
Ph 6.5Another problem here, is that guppies are hard water fish, and neon tetras are softer water fish. What is the pH, GH, and KH of your water?
For how long should I do these daily water changes?API General Cure is not available in the UK.
If you want to medicate, eSHa 2000 is one of the best. But before medicating I would try doing daily water changes of at least 50%. If that clears it, when you go back to weekly water changes, they too need to be at least 50%.
Nitrite 0Try a couple of weeks and see if there is any improvement, if not try the medication.
Just to check, what are the ammonia and nitrite levels in the tank water? We need to eliminate those as a possible cause.
