I have recently bought my live rock about 3 days ago and it was clear the first day. But on the second day it seems to be getting a little cloudy and on the 3rd it seems to be even more cloudy.

Questions:-

1.Will the cloudiness stop or go soon enough? What is it?
2.I am getting this "web-like" thing on my live rock. I don't know what or who's creating it, but it's there - was is it?
3.I have a Aquaclear 200 hang on style filter - can I put live rock in there instead of a sponge for filtration?
4.I topped my water off with treated tap water instead of RO water - the water fill was about 500ml - I have learned from my mistake and I'll never do it again - but will this be a bad thing for just that once?

tnx. (Edited for more questions :D )

im not sure what you mean about the cloudiness. What colour is it, is it possible sand in the water columb? do you have anyu algaes in th tank that might be dumping nutirents?

The weblike "thing" is a snail/worm like creatures that lives deep inside liverock. It throws out a web to catch tiny food particles, once the net is full it drags the net back in and eats the catch. I cant remember the name of it now and im kicking myself cosi should know this! :grr: Its harmless however and will cause no need for concern

Yes you can put liverock in ths filter as long as its kept wet. is you remove the sponge however, be warned that you might get an increase f tiny drifting particles in the water as there is no sponge to catch it.

The tap water is a bit hit and miss.. it really depends on the quality of the water that comes out the tank. I would say that you will probably get an algae bloo from this but nothing worse. If there was anyhing worse in the water you would have had deaths by now.

Ive decieded to keep the sponge as it does its job fine and the live rock is also ok.

ok thanks for the "web-like" thing advice, its ok for me now. :D

the tap water - nothings died and no algae is present - ill just do a water change and keep an eye on paras and the tank.

I took a nitrate test for the water and it is 0ppm so nitrates isn't a problem - any other advice from anyone else?

tnx as of yet.
