I am inheriting my fish tank and the previous owner does not know if the fishkeeper treated his fw fish for ick.

i was told that if ick medicine was used in the tank, one can not use it as a sw reef tank.

1. is this true

2. how can i tell if ick treatment was used prior to adding live rock to the tank

thanks

1. Yes, it's true IF you are planning on doing a reef. However, if you plan to just have fish in your tank (NO invertebrates/corals) then it won't cause any harm.

2. Only thing I can think of is testing the water for copper. Some ich medicines use it to kill the parasites.
