So, I haven't been around for a couple of years b/c we had a move and temporary housing and all that mess, but I am FINALLY getting back into fishkeeping after a long hiatus. This will be my first foray with salt water since my then toddler, now almost 7yr old decided to "help" me by feeding my 10g nano the entire bottle of fish food.....

Anyway, a friend of mine is moving and her hubby has a really nice sw setup so I asked what they were doing with it when they moved (knowing they were going to temporary housing while they bought a house). She said he was either going to try and sell it or try and dry out the lr and just move everything with them... I asked how much he would be willing to sell it for so she checked with him and he said $700 - for a nice tank, stand, hood, quarantine tank, lr, fish and salt (and all the filter and sump stuff). I was shocked. He doesn't have any corals in there b/c he'd need to upgrade the lighting first and only 3 fish - clown fish, firefish and a lawnmower blenny...oh, and a citron (I think) goby.

I won't get it for a couple of weeks as they're getting ready to go on a househunting trip, but I am so excited!

nice one, its a great hobby.

a few weeks is good, you can get a lot of research and questions on here in that time!

Agree with ben, gives you time to jump head first in to the salty side and do all your h/w and ask lots of questions - woo hoo

Don't forget to start a journel :kana:

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty well acquainted with the needs of a sw tank - my nano was an awesome tank while it was up and running. Different requirements than a 55g tank for sure, but I did a lot of other reading around here :p

For stocking...

The current list
Clown Fish
Red Firefish
Citron Goby
Lawnmower/Sailfin Blenny

I would like to get a small clown and see if I can get them to pair up (this one's already a good size and had accepted a fellow clown prior but it died for some reason. Additionally, I was thinking that I'd like to get 3-4 Spotted Cardinalfish and maybe a basslet of some sort...

Other ideas?

I was looking at those on Liveaquaria and the flasher wrasse looks really pretty. I am going to be getting some corals at SOME point so I'll just make sure it's "reef safe".

ETA - We are actually starting the tank move today - my friends wanted to get the tank move out of the way this weekend b/c they're going to be so busy when they get back from househunting. First up is the quarantine tank and some of the tank water I believe.

EATA - I'm going to go ahead and start a journal now since the tank's actually coming today.
