hi there i have 3 bns,2 that i thaught were female due to the odd bristle or two and then my male with a full head of bristles.they have recently breed and one of the bns that i thaught female appears to be a male as he/she is guarding the eggs,is this the norm? and also is another male in a tank a problem to the breeding pair or there young?

normally the male will stand guard in the cave fanning the eggs.u shouldnt have a risk to the spawn from the other male however if you see any sign of aggression over territory now they have bred u should be moving the other male to another tank.. ps what size are they in just now ??

cheers m8 for the info,my tank is about 3foot by 18 inches and the same tall sory have'nt got metric sizes no tape handy.this is the second time they have bred in 2 month. the first time i mist the egg bit but spotted six fry hiding where the male that i thaught was female had been, but only 2 made it.this time i watched daily and theres loads of fry but male is still with them,i spotted the eggs on 1st april, will it be long before he leaves them? and how long do i keep the fry before i have to move them on? thanks again.
