Info about Mollies?

k i got my first molly today his name is Spooky and he is a black lyretail molly... i've never had one before and i had a few questions....
he keeps eating the plants.....i'm guessing they're herbivores will he eat all my live plants ?
are mollies hardy fish and can he survive a cycling tank?
are they ok alone cuz i don't have a friend for him yet as the pet store didn't have a female silver one......will he do well alone?
anymore info about caring for mollies would be nice.....right now he is in a 5 gallon....by himself....and this tank has only been set up for a week.
oh ya should i put salt in?

mollys do like some aquarium salt and do best with a group.

It seems you wanted the silver one to breed... The male will be lonely I would have recommended a mollie from the same tank. I also recommend a larger tank...

ugh! um d'u think he'd be happy with 2 guppies and 2 platies in a 10 gall tank?.....but i heard they nip... u don't think 2 mollies in a 5 is a good idea? maybe i should return him and get a couple guppies 2 cycle the tank.....cuz that tank is actually my fry tank but it's not cycled and my fry couldn't handle the fluctuations...proly messed that up huh? ) i can't get another tank because i already have 4 and my mom will kill me. but i might get one anyway a 25 gallon because it's on sale 4 $88. i really don't know what 2 do? i can move him to my 10 or keep him there and get him a friend

k i wuz thinking.....could spooky survive alone for 2 weeks? then could i move him to the community tank? or does he need his own kind? i don't really have room, bringing him back might be the best thing......help

He needsa friend, he may die. My Oscar was 18 inches long "YES" you heard correctly and was about 12 years old his friend died so he became depressed and his color started to change and he slowly died out of depression. He wouldn't eat...

btw mollies do fine with other livebearers and dont need slat nessarily!!!! i dnt use salt and i havn't had any dead mollies!!! and my mollies and quite friendly~! so after u have finnished cyleing the tank u can put it the community tank
