This contest has been black flagged and restarted due to concerns raised by a few members. It is not apparent to members, but moderators can view IP addresses. This option allows us to track the integrity of a poll. Good ethical behavior is expected of members at all times, unfortunately they seemed to have been broken in this instance. In our sense of fair play, this seemed one of the best options available to us. To members that have voted "fair and square" we are sorry. To those suspect of poor behavior, this is your wake up call.

The competition is for fun and I would not have predicted that members would have gone to such lengths to try and ensure that they won. Its not a decision we the moderators came to easily, the delay in posting it up reflects the time we took to find a solution and resolution to the problem.

Quite frankly, cheatings not tolerated, from now on we will disqualify any entrants suspected of foul play, it just ruins the fun contest and bias's the result and is generally unfair to all who participated.

The June competion will be restarted on the 27th June with the same entrants as last time, good luck to everyone involved.

oh i wondered what was happening, im voting the same way as i did the first time.

Sorry yes, all of the competitions the poll will close on the 29th June the winners will then recieve their prizes before the start of July, sorry for all delays but this seemed the fairest way to ensure that the rightful members win :)

William......I don't know a lot about computers....but is the IP address something like the address of the computer??

If so....I am sure it "looks" like I voted more than once for my "fish" pic.....which was no where near winning.......

But, I have a couple of friends who do not have computers who use mine.....they have their own e-mails set up...we are allowed 10 email addresses with out carrier sbc DSL....so I let them have their own to do their business with, they order all their fish needs from bigals, and other stuff.....
I showed them this site, and they registered and "voted" for my blackie, on my computer.......if I caused this problem, I am sorry.... :*) I had no idea, I would I never try to rig anything to get a fish pic to win a contest.....what fun is that :/

Good point. So lets say i have a family of 5 & 1 PC all of us use this pc. We all enjoy FishKeeping! we all visit this site on a regular basis & use are own login details! we all want to vote for our favourite Fish - Tank does this mean that only 1 of the 5 are allowed? Cause we will all have the same IP address as we all use the same ISP? Bit unfair me thinks.

Hmmm.......good point...

.....but how many new members would sign up just to vote in our little competition and take no other active role in the forum :/

Any active members sharing a computer shouldn't worry ;)

btw Mama I don't think it was you that was the concern :)

:)

mamapish that was the same as me,
Glad I wasnt the only one.
would hate to be thought of as a cheater :(

Starry^

mama and starry,

you aren't alone I ahd some old college m8's over and they all wanted to vote after seeing the forum too ( and many pints between us). They created acounts and voted for me in the large aquaria, they all voted for starry^ in the FOTM and all voted against Jane and I (voting for Jesse) in the STOTM. I don't feel so bad now as again I was not trying to cheat either. this is all for fun!!! :D
