Im Trying A Pool Pump

LOL- I've often looked at the pool pump we have on our little blue puddle pool, thinking "I could totally use this for fish" though the amount of biomedia you would have could be much less compared to a canister

Keep a mop handy.

If the pool pump dribbles a little outdoors it's usually no big deal. Indoors, depending on the location, it could be just toss a towel on the concrete floor, or it could mean damage to some expensive flooring.

My only other concern would be that it is designed for a pool, meaning leaching some chemicals which are harmless to humans, but potentially harmful to fish, could occur. I would give it a trial run in my basement with some culls, if they seemed to be OK, I'd let it rip.

I always have a mop handy though.

swimming pool pumps are really expensive to run. You are better off using a normal aquarium or pond pump. They use a lot less power and are much cheaper to operate.
