Yesterday I decided to go to the lfs just to have a look(like I do at least twice a week LOL), as I've posted before I'm after some more panda corys to go with my lone one but nobody has them, even maidenhead in p'boro didn't have them. Anyway I was looking in the tanks and spotted a poor little bandit cory all on his own in a tank full of dwarf gouramis(about a dozen or so) the substrate was awful as well, it looked really sharp and it was big, it looked like chunks of glass! I'd seen him in there last time but he had a little friend, who was now gone, I just couldn't leave him, he looked so scared and was hiding in a corner not moving :( You'd think they'd have put him in one of the other tanks that had other corys, I know they wouldn't be the same type but it's better then being alone!

Well when I brought him home I managed to get a good look at him, his barbels look very short, almost like they've been torn(probably that substrate!) and he seemed a bit stressed as he was breathing rapidly. I put him in the cory tank and within an hour he was so happy! He was swimming around with them all jumping through the bubbles and generally larking about! I was so pleased, I half expected him to just sit there and stress himself to death. My little panda is also really happy as I think he assumes he's another panda, they swim together alot but they also swim with the bronze corys. He also ate last night which I'm guessing is a good sign that he isn't too stressed at being moved, he gorged himself on bloodworms(as they all did LOL) he's not at all shy, he's quite pushy, I thought he might be a little shy and hide at first but he's always out in the open and nudging the other corys, he pushed one of the other's away so he could steal a bloodworm!!

So now I have a real mish mash of corys, 2 bronze corys, 2 gold cory(or maybe c.melanotaenia, can't quite figure out which they are), 1 panda & 1 bandit. If I see some pandas somewhere I'll buy 2, as I doubt I'll see more bandits any time soon. Once I move my goldfish into a bigger tank after we move house the bronze will be going in there old tank and I'll be making the numbers up to 6, then I'll try and get 2 more bandits from somewhere(it'll probably be a while before anywhere gets them / I see somone selling them), so I'll have a trio of pandas & a trio of bandits.

Here's a pic of my little bandit with the panda, I'm thinking of calling him smokey as in smokey & the bandit LOL;

For some reason i thought your rescued bandit would be the smaller one but its the other way round. Good work on another rescue. Im glad he is settled and happy.

Yeah he's quite big, he's the 3rd largest, the 2 gold cory(or c.melanotaenia, whatever) are the largest and then him. He's fantastic, definately the most active of all of them, he doesn't care who he swims with either, none of them do, they all school together or go off in little groups or scavenge alone and then have a little play in 2's, 3's or sometimes all of them. I'm totally hooked on cories, just hope when I move that I'll have space for several more smaller tanks(2 or 3ft 'ers) so I can get lots of different corys :)
