I'm So Excited ! I'm Getting A New Hamster

I know this is teasing to have a post with no pictures - but I'll keep you guys in suspense for a couple of days or so.
I've been speaking to a breeder and wanted a very specific colour, sex & coat (a female long hair torti) and I'm going to pick up the little one over the Easter weekend
I've kept hammies (and bred them) for so many years, but haven't kept any for about 5 years now. So I'm dead excited to get one again.
I'm not exactly sure what hooked me onto these little creatures so many years ago, but they are just too super cute and I really wanted another for so long. Now that I have the space, I can.
I just spent a mini fortune on heaps of toys - even though some of the best ones (from hammies point of view) is often the home-made free of charge ones. It took me forever to decide what cage to get for her, but I've decided on a Hagen Zoozone 2. Mucho ventilation and tarzan swings (I'll have some platforms just high enough for her to grab on and swing a bit), but no incessant gnawing on bars

So watch this space - in a couple of days I'll post some pics

Aww congratulatons. Cant wait to see pictures.

Im not a hamster fan myself, they just dont like me everyone we have had bites me like crazy.

We have rats now, 8 all in all and I find them better suited to us.

kk seems like your hammi guna be happy livin wi you! I got 2 roborovski dwarf hamsters and they are the tamest animal iv kept!

Lovemaster I have 2 roborovski hamsters aswell Iv had them for 5 months now but they are not tame..They run the minute they see me..

Oh, patience is killing me! It didn't work out last weekend to go and collect her, so fingers crossed for this weekend. But this is a photo of her in the mean time

Oh my, I'm usually not very keen on hamsters, but that 1 is a stunner! Is she just ordinary hamster size? Because she looks slightly larger in the picture. She is absolutely gorgeous though, bet you're gonna have a great future with her =)

By looking at the light brown bits from her belly right round her back i couldnt help but think of that baileys drink drool so maybe bailey could be a name idea?? i think its quite good anyway

Thanks ! She's actually only still a baby and barely 2 months old. She's a Syrian Hamster - so substantially larger than the dwarf varieties.

ooo good thinking! And it just so happens I love Baileys mmmm (If nothing better comes up that grabs my attention, Bailey might well be her name).

Thanks Seffie - I'm sure she'll be one but I'm more into people type names (sorry should have mentioned that before).

I realise I went a bit nuts with the toy buying though (woops!)

Here's a selection (that's minus the wheel and the ball.....)

(to give some idea of size, the long tunnel thing is a foot long (and so is that large climbing frame)! and the material stuff is like a hammock thingy and the other one is a rustle bag (these will hang from the cage).
