im pretty new and i wondered if a 12" airstone wou

I'm not sure what you're asking, but airstones are never (except perhaps in the most extreme situations) necessary in a filtered tank.

I saw this and had to ask this question. I'm using a "Penguin" 125 bio-wheel and have an air wand across the length of my 30 usg tank, creating a bubble wall :D . Looks pretty cool, but you're saying it's unnecessary? And should I consider removing it once I change over to a sand substrate? I am concerned it will stir up the sand.

bubble wnads are fine to have in a tank it help airartion in the tank which also helps any food to keep off back wallo of tank

if you have to many fish in the tank then you need to leave it in there to help the fish breath, way you can tell is if they go to the top of the water to breath

i had my wand in sand and it was always floating around can end up clouding the tank

the more oxygen you have in your tank along with high temps and good feeding will help the fish grow faster
