I couldn't help myself. I've waited a few months but no 2nd hand Rio 180 has shown up around my area so I ordered one in my lfs and I'll have it in a couple of weeks. :) Problem is hubby. We're broke like a lot of people at the mo so I've been a bit naughty. I'll tell him soon. Wish me luck!!! :fish:

Whoops!

Just tell him that the annoyance and anger at being broke will be averaged out by the stress relieving properties of watching fish. :p

Very good Cezza!! I'm sure it won't work but it's worth a try! The irony is he's been on about having a big tank for years and I never had an interest and always said no. Now I'm the obsessed one and he thinks I'm happy enough with my 10 gal! Oh the innocence of him.... :D

Don't tell him. Just have it set up, full of water where you want it when he comes in from work.

If things turn for the worst go to Mexico and change your name to seliane rios....

If he's mentioned he wanted a big tank in the past, you could tell him you were thinking of him when you bought it

The only reason he should be annoyed is that fact that you paid retail price for it, kiss of death in my book. There are so may excellent tanks out there on the 2nd hand market. :) Should have looked at the 200 litre Fluval Romas, much better looking tanks.

you have Persuasion on your side, i cant think of a single thing the wife could do that cant be fixed by a bottle of wine and packing the kids off to their grandparents need i say more :hey:

and a free pass to Spearmints? :D

Just wrap it up and say Happy early Birthday! or Anniversary, or whatever. He will be thrilled. Tell him how you knew he always wanted a larger tank, and since times were tough you thought this might bring some happiness. Just make sure you let him pick out the fish!

Oh lads you've made me laugh! I think a combo of all of your advice will do the trick. I'll have the tank as set up as I can so when he comes home from work he'll have a 'what the #@#@?' moment. Then I'll say 'Happy Xmas/ birthday/anniversary' etc. Then grinning madly I'll produce a bottle of vino and put a dvd on for the kids. Ahem.

Probably best you pick just one of those events, unless you feel it's so bad you need to use three of them to get away with it. :p

I saw this and thought of you. ;) Sorted. Can't wait to get my hands on it!!!! The tank that is....
