Should I? I feel guilty as I just set up this huge tank and put my cichlids in it? I even did a journal on it. I feel like I would be turning my back on my current fish(and kinda the people who helped me along as well)....is it really that bad or do people do this all the time? It'd be awhile before I did it though. I'd have to save for all the pieces and once I have all all the $ for everything, I'd sell the fish and start switching.

I'd like to make it a reef tank eventually but it's a 125 Tall.

whatcha all think? Should I go for it?

I think a reef of that size would look magnificent though!!

Well if your having troubles disiding then just wait until you can get a new tank.
Which would be even better...an awesome cichlid tank and an awesome SW tank  :good: :hyper: :shout:

I think buy a new tank Cause I have a african cichlid tank and a marine tank right beside each other and I couldn't live wihtout them.Although my tanks are a lot smaller 2ft marine and 3 ft african. so i think stick with your africans and buy a new tank for the marines

The problem is we won't have enough room in the living room  and it won't mesh w/the dining room and I don't want it in any of the bedrooms or the dark and scary basement...sigh... i was thinking of doing a 3 footer...i just measured and I can put a 4 foot to the left of the tv and still have room to walk through....Maybe I'll downgrade the cichlid tank and make the 125 my sw tank. I could glue a few pieces of the small rocks together and with it being a foot shorter I won't have the extra foot to do rock piles on. That could work. I only have about 20 fish right now as it is, so I could transfer them and wait for them to grow up yet and get rid of males if there are more than one. Or I can do like Mod Ferris has and try a Male only tank? I don't know that a 4 foot is big enough for that?

a 30G or 40G breeder is a good size for a small reef or fowlr. They are managable enough while your learning the marine trade (though I've seen you browsing already, so I'm sure your well on your way :good:)

Then in the future, if you move or decide you would like to pursue a larger marine system, you will already have the base knowledge and experience and it will as easy as pie :good:
