1 month ago I aquired a blind swamp eel from the lfs. He's in my 75 gallon (u.s.) community tank with my 5 Bala sharks and about 20 cardinal tetras, etc. The tank is well planted and c/w caves etc.
I have been feeding him chopped up live earthworm once a day (sometimes skip a day). The other tank inhabitants don't seem to be threatend at all by the eel who is about 12" (should be about full grown I think). The eel swims around quite a lot and doesn't look hostile as long as he's we'll fed. Come to think of it, I should probably do a head count on some of the glowlight and cardinal tetras.
I have yet to find a good resource of info on the eel though.
The lfs advised to seal the top of the tank the best i can which i have done. Other than keeping my water quality religously well maintained I am lacking a good source of info on the little guy. I am not sure of his scientific name either (which may help to get more info). Does anyone have any resources or some info to share?
Thanks to anyone who replies.
BTW. My Balas are now 4" to 5" and I have been upgrading my tank size to suit their growth when they require it. In case a warning or two was comin my way. lol
