I have a Crwontail male ,Roger, that Im going to breed with this female. And I need help. Please Tell my how to breed bettas and what supplies I will need. Now before you start to "help" me by telling me not to breed them Im Going To Breed Them End Of Story So Please Help

well first off read the breeding links above they will answer most questions and do a bit of reasearch
http://www.bettatalk.com/breeding_bettas.htm

and if all your questions are not answered then come back and we will answer anything your not sure of good luck then.............

i watched my cousin breed bettas once. it had a hell of a time.. just make sure you have enough contaners to hold them all. an if you think "oh well they cant have that many fry" let me start by saying yes they will have that many fry. an then some.

Breeding bettas is a big responsibility. It does take a lot of work. And it looks like you don't have big enough aquariums for the fish you have now. Example the 2 comets and 1 regular goldfish in a 2.5? I have 1 comet and two shubunkins in a 55 gal. They get huge. My comet is 8" already. Maybe you should think about getting more tanks for your fight that already need a bigger tank than breeding your bettas.

There going in a ten gallon soon and I know that that will be to small also but there an inch and a half long.

well i would say 10gal AT THE LEAST but the male may deside to kill the female. so jus be careful

Patience and don't rush them. Try and read as much about breeding bettas as you can first.
Also yes, get some larger tanks for the other fish so the 10g's can be used for fry. Those current homes your fish have will very quickly become their, tombs being that most of them fish get real big.
Best of luck.
Hugs,
P.

And when and if you breed your bettas what will you do with all of the babies? Will you cull some. And you don't have great quatily stock to begin with. People that breed bettas breed show quality bettas not your regular pet vt's. If I were ever to breed bettas I would deffinately only breed show quality ones. And I mean look at your lfs I'm sure you'll see tons of those regular joes that no one is buying. But your choice...

The place I got Roger from buys show quality Crowntail males. And Roger is one of them. And the female has both crowntail parents. So.... :p :p :p

Alright I was just checking. I didn't want you to be dissappointed. But good luck then. I hope you get some nice bettas.

I am going to have to agree with JackDemp here. Ask some of the breeders on this site about how hard it is to raise babies. Do a lot of research and prepare for a huge spawn.

Your gold fish will quickly outgrow a 10G tank as well. If you want to keep them you need a 20G for the first and 10G for each additional goldfish, so in your situation you need at least a 40G. Even that is too small IMO as goldfish can get very big very fast. Mine went from 1"-6" in about 6 months. Then I traded them for tropical.

Maybe you should read Synirr's mini spawn diary in this forum. And see how much work she went through to raise those fry without many fatalities.

I agree with FishEnthusiast

you really shouldnt breed your bettas...you dont even know what to get them, the equipement you need, the fry food, genetics and types of fry you'll get out of them and such

if you wanna breed them fine but jus remember. you have no clue what your doing.
