I've put it off long enough

But in preparation I've wanted to do it right, so I'm looking for opinions about my clowns

Started off with 2 clown loaches about 9 months ago, one was mean to the other and kind of a hermit so I got another one about 3 months later to befriend the lonely clown, the mean clown took in the old clown and the new clown became the outcast (with me so far?) SOOOO, I added 3 more a couple of months later to befriend the new clown and hopefully even things out in there, wellll the smallest of the 6 is now the outcast  ,he's forbidden from sleeping where the rest do so he snuggles under the rock with the kuhlies. Here's my question, should I just leave the small clown in the 29 for now instead of moving him to the 120 with the rest (kuhlies are staying in the 29) OR should I move him 1st and allow him first choice of territory and dominance OR should I move them all together?

I'm a nervous wreck about moving them as it is. I know how skittish they are and I don't want them to freak out

Move them all together if possible, adding the little one first will just give the dominant one from the others a chance to kick his butt, hopefully they should all dive for cover as soon as they are released and the shock of being in such a large new tank will make them all group together for security.

excellent point! I never thought of that but your right, that's more than likely what will happen

another question, should I add my queen botias eventually? I'm just not sure how they'd handle the fronts....think they'd be ok? The fronts are very gentle with my zebra loaches but they're also very young still -_- , I'd love to see the queens cruising with the clowns but I don't want them to get hurt

:D Good luck with the big new tank wuvmybetta! It is a good feeling indeed!

I'm so excited that you're finally setting it up!! I always see it in your sig and think SET IT UP ALREADY!!! :p

Wish I could tell you about the queen botias with your fronts, but I couldn't be more clueless on this one. I'm sure freshmike will know.

Good luck with the new tank, wuvmybetta! :D It's going to be wonderful!

I can't wait to learn what happens with your clowns. I hope this story has a very happy ending.

My Frontosa have never even looked at eating a loach, besides, loaches have a pretty good self defense system!!! I am sure the Queen Botias will be fine!!!

Thanks you guys

well....it's up! No water yet, just an evening full of furniture rearranging to clear a spot  ,I have no place to put my loveseat anymore  I'm thinking it will look good in the garage

So I think I'm going to go ahead and put the queens in too then. We were discussing it today and I wonder if they have the same "switchblade" defense that clowns have  THEN ,I can move the kuhlies to the 42 and I'll have an empty 29 and an empty 20 :hyper: , I'll use the 29 for a betta grow out tank (hopefully, if that orange male will wise up :grr: )

The only thing that held me back for so long was....money  ,gravel, filters, heaters, decor, *sigh* here we go again
