but on the vids ive scene they have like a trunk and a tree mines different its like 150 or so polyps layered across a rock with little stalks coming from the rock which forms a single xenia polyp at the other end can i just frag one polyp?

Can you get a photo of it? is it growing on kind of a mat the grows across the rock? if so it could be greenstar polyp as this is often labelled as xenia.

But there is also a mat encrusting type of xenia, whose name escapes me, there is a lovely blue one which I covet :good:

ps I suspect that is exactly what you would have to do, cut away some of the polys

i think it might be different and yes it is like a mat sort of like grass stalks jutting from the rock into a flower thing that does not pulse

thanks guys but i still need to know how?

Potentially clove polyps mate...simply cut some off with a scalpel or craft knife...then attach to another rock with loose fitting rubber band or loosely tied fishing line. You could also simply break the rock it's on into two if small enough.

If you want to swop/sell your frags can you put it in the Frag exchange --- pleeeeese

Good luck getting these out of your tank once they've gained a foothold. These things are near invincible, I just rip em off the rock with my hands, they will survive and they will grow.

wow really i want mine to grow more but whats fast for a coral? i found about 8 new polyps in about 2-3weeks is that fast?

Just wait till they get bigger, they tend to grow almost exponentially :)

so the bigger the coral the faster it grows?

With the exception of branching LPS (and a handful of others), that is usually the case.
