Im Cycling My New Tank But Confused By All The Info I Have Been Told A

hey im really new to this and dont have to mutch info!! i have had a small tank cant tell you
what size brought for me with lots of tropical fish a few weeks back Mollies, Platys,danios and 2 cat fish my mollies had babys and i saved 7 of them in a net breeder , and my other 2 are pregnant aswell but with all these fish in a small tank i was worried of overcrowding so brought a new tank 90 liters not sure what that is in gallons ?? my fish in the small tank are all healthy but not sure what the levels of nitrate nitrite ammonia was as i didnt no about this intill i looked online and still im confused as there are so many diffrent ways to do this!! anyway i got the new tank and asked at the shop what i have to do i was told to set it all up and then 48hrs after add all my danios i have (6) and add the nutrafin cycle everyday aswell and then 24hrs later add 2 or more of my platys i have done this!! and im only on day 4 of a new tank i have brought a test kit but im not sure what the levels of nitrate nitrite ammonia are supposed to be at this point and after looking online thinking what to do now was i supposed to do this in the first place where do i go from here??? can anyone help? xx

does the home kit measure your ph in the water if it does ph level should be 7.0

yes it dose but its 7.5 8.0 .

The PH doesn't really matter unless you are keeping really sensitive fish. 7.5-8 is fine. 90 liters is about 24 US gallons. Do you know the dimensions of the other tank? What type of fish do you have and how many?

Don't add anymore fish to the new tank. Nutrafin cycle is not going to cycle the tank properly in only a couple days . My best guess is that you are going to have ammonia and nitrite in both tanks. It is good that you got another tank though, the cycle will be less harsh on the fish .

oh ok thank you, my small tank depth 29cm length 32cm height 32cm i have mollie 5 and 6 fry and 4 plattys 2 catfish 6 danios... yes i do have a test kit the liquid one and i tested it last night on the new running tank 4 days old with 8 fish in it danios 2 plattys nitrite 0.3 nitrate 20 ammonia 0 to 0.6 ph still 7.5, 8.0

At this point in the cycle thats not too bad - your fish waste will produce Ammonia which with a PH of 7 or over is toxic to fish and must be removed - your filter media should start to grow ammonia munching bacteria, you will know this when you start to see NITRITE readings but watch for spikes - too much NITRITE with harm/kill your fish. Further down the cycle road you will start to see NITRATE readings - this is the final part where the NITRITE munching bacteria start to colonise your filter media and the by-product of this is NITRATE. You will then have Ammonia munching bacteria = NITRITE. And NITRITE munching bacteria = NITRATE. Keep these spikes as low as you possibly can by performing regular 10% - 25% water changes (dont forget that if you are using tap water to use a dechlorinating agent as this will also damage/kill your fish).
The final product - NITRATE is not as lethal to your fish as the other two and once the tank has cycled / matured you will need to keep regular measurements to monitor these levels - performing regular partial water changes and cleaning / syphoning the bottom of your tank is essential to maintaining a healthy balance with in turn leads to healthy fish.
