Hello all,
I was wondering if someone could perhaps give me some sort of insight as to what could be going on with my little girl. She's very sick!
I am currently the very proud owner of 12 gorgeous bettas which I have bought over the last couple of months. A week ago today I went to a petshop recommended to me by a friend, and bought 2 new crowntail bettas - one male, one female. I by no means claim to be the authority on bettas, but owning 12 I do like to think I have a fair idea of what to look for and how to take proper care of my babies.
Anyway, I did as good an inspection as I possibly could in the store (it was very dark inside) but it wasn't until I got my new pets home that I realised the male had cotton fungus. I treated him immediately but sadly he died 4 days later. The female is now playing up. She is completely inactive, unlike my other ones who never stop moving, and has what looks like squeezed blackheads in several places on her tail. I'm not sure what it is - that's the best way to describe it. She also appears to have diarrhea...instead of the usual brown hers is coming out a pale yellow colour. Sorry for the detail, but I'd really like to know what's going on. She is (obviously) still alive, but sits almost vertical in the water and only moves once every 2 or 3 minutes, and that's just to swim around the surface of the water for air. She still has her colour and her fins and tail are all spread nicely. She's had salt dips and it currently in a mix of aquarium salt and fungus eliminator, all of which seem to be doing absolutely nothing. My bettas are all happily feeding on dry pellets with the occasional brine shrimp treat every couple of days.
Does anyone have any ideas at all what could be up with my girl, and if there is any way at all to make her better, or does she sound too far gone? I'm just running out of ideas.
Any feedback would be brilliant, and thanks for reading.
