both my 29g have ammonia spikes, really high (over 2 or 3). i'm not sure what has done this. i know i shouldn't have added pima/melafix but i did. i only added a little to one of them.
the only other thing that has been different is that i fed them some freeze dried blood worms. i also seem to have a bacterial bloom in both of them as well. I did 50% water change on both, added liq bacteria, ammo lock, new carbon and ammo chips. (i have three filters running on one of them, one from another tank)
is there anything else I can do? i'm so bummed, i hope i don't lose any of my babies.
thanks in advance

I don't think there is anything else you can do as it sounds like you have done the correct things.

Just keep watching your levels and doing water changes. Were those readings before or after the 50% change? Also, how long have these tanks been up and running? Any recent changes? -_-

These tanks have been going for about 4 months. my specs were always perfect. the only thing that i did was put the melafix in both and fed freeze dried blood worms. i figure it has to be the melafix and i know better! but i figured with all the extra filters i have going it wouldn't be a big deal.
i did move one angel and a gourami to another tank but i just recently broke down a few of my tanks. both tanks are heavily planted as well and it's gonna be tough finding everyone. what a nightmare.

Never had melafix do that at all! In fact I love the stuff for some things. Keep up with water changes to get it down fast. I fear that you have something dead in the tank or there is a lot of decaying plant matter...

ALASKA

I did put some mondo grass in both tanks a couple of weeks ago and i have learned that it's not a true aquatic plant. maybe they are decaying.
I have had a problem with melafix in q tanks b4 but as you said no one else has this problem! as far as dead fish go, i do a head count every day, do 25% water change per week and even more with my tank that has plecs (cuz they poo a ton). any time I have a sick fish they go into a hospital tank and i always q new guys. I trim my plants as well....thought i was being so careful.
I just did another 50% water change on both tanks and put a bucket full of water from another tank into one of them. ammonia levels are down to about 1ppm and the fish don't seem affected right now. the bacteria bloom in so thick that i can barely see in there.
plus my mom is coming to visit this friday, she has been hearing about my fish for ever and now she will be seeing total chaos.

edit: i put the melafix in cuz one angel was chasing another and she started to look a little run down.
