Lots love guys. ( if ya remember me that is,hehe.) :p

Can a guppy and a mosquito fish cross breed?

I have all these little white worm things crawling over my tank, I'm pretty sure they
are eating algea.
I havent added anything new to the tank- they just appeared when I put the last live sand in. (thats not new,it was a while back, lol.) It wasnt sand rather "muck".
Fish eat them and so far no bad results.
Tank has been up and running probably over a year.
Sand substrate, fully natural tank. ( has a light and a waterfall whisper filter with floss only,no charcoal.)

Anyone know what these little guys are? They move pretty darned fast across the sides of the tank.( they are attatched to it like snails but they arent snails.) Kind of flat looking and about two-three CM long.

I dont mind them at all- adds "depth" to the tank,LOL.

Oh yes, I got some Ghost Shrimp too! These are the neatest little buggers alive! (white worms were there before the shrimp were introduced.)

Thanks alot! -tsavo. :hyper:

I'm not too sure about your cross breeding question, but i remember wuvmybetta quoting about little insect worms in tanks:" ...if it looks like a tiny white worm it's probably planaria, they come from too much protein in the tank (overfeeding), no worries, they're harmless and your fish will probably eat them ..".
I have also seen these worms. I got it when i put some cultured gravel from another persons tank into mine. Except i dont think my fish ate them.

I also found this link about planaria worms:

Good luck with the tank and merry christmas :D

Long time no see, crimsontavo. :D

Like snowyangel said, they are definatly planaria and will probably get eaten, and it won't harm the fish.

As for the cross-breeding question, I don't think they can, although I am not 100% sure.

Merry Christmas To you too. :santa:
