On Tuesday night I found my big silver dollar had fungus all over its side (lot of problem with tank leaking).

Dad was getting the net to take it out to kill it,I begged him to leave it ,let me buy stuff and not to kill it.
Went out early yesterday, bought the stuff and dosed the tank, looked this morning and the fungus is nearly peeled of the fish its just hanging on.
It just shows if you try you can save fish (sometimes) only for coming on here and reading what you lot put ,that fish would be dead.

Thank you guys

Congrats Cat.

Any chance of you telling us the name of the medication or are you going to keep that a secret? :shifty: :p

Its INTERPET NO8 for fin rot and fungus,I was just amazed how fast it worked, but now I'm a bit worried, all the fungus as gone from the fish but its left a big hole in it,I'm worried infection could get in it,what should I do now?

I would add Melafix. Maybe some salt(if you don't have scales fish) and some Stress-coat.

It would be great if you could quarantine him, so your other fish don't pick at it.

If you add Melafix, be sure not to overdose.

Good advice Comet!!

Cat, I had the same problem with a swordtail. The fungus went away and left a gaping hole down his spine, you could see the top of his bones  :-(

I used Melafix and about two weeks later he was completely healed, with only a trace of a scar to show for the battle. If you have somewhere to quarantine him, do it asap. The others will nibble at him :(

*EDIT* You might also want to test your water. Fungus happens, but water quality can be a factor. :D

Thanx everyone will do as you say,it does look
Had a lot of trouble with tanks that may have caused it,they were moved out of their own tank it had to be moved,so they were put in another, we set their own tank back up ,put them all back and found it leaking,so they all had come out again.

They are still not back in the big tank, they are all stuck in a small one at moment, not ideal but I can't do anything just yet.
Not sure if it got injured keep moving it.

i love your cats

Even with scaleless fish you can add salt, you just have to use 1/4 to 1/2 the recommended dosage. I add a little aquarium salt to my main tank each week and have read in multiple places where it can be done with scaleless fish such as cories, plecos, etc...

They all state the same thing though, use 1/4 to 1/2 the recommended dosage and watch the scaleless fish for any signs of problems. All my corys, my pleco, and my otos are still happy. :)
