ok, so my brother decided to get some fish today and the lfs man advised guppy's. I wasn't so sure about getting them, but I bought them anyway. They are quite nice, but they seem to be eating all the algae off the rocks. Is this right? or have i bought some dodgy gupps?

most livebearers will pick at algae where ever it grows. So they are quite normal. HTH

what ratio of males and feemales did you get?

I was going to get the ratio of 2 females : 1 male but my brother changed his mind without telling me so now we have 3 females and 4 males
so it's like 1 3/4 males : female
But I can seee the males chasing the females about and rubbing, and i have also seen black spots near they're anal fins just before i put them in, and some are quite fat (females) so I went out and bought a breeding tank today, for I shall need it in the future

The males are likely to fight over the females and also harras the females litterally to death.

Wait till they get settled in then you see...... if your tank water goes cloudy its most likely due to the 24/7 sweet guppy lovin

You'll need to cover them up should the vicar ever pop round!

The ideal ratio is 3 females to each male.... most people even suggest 4 females to every male.... also if they breath, they breed.
