I mentioned it on here ages ago that a family are moving “up north” and taking their 240L Rio but leaving their fish. 3 kids 1 cat 1 dog are enough to relocate apparently plus they think it’s a soft water area in Scottish Borders and we are very hard water here.
Any I don’t want will either be returned to lfs or the old boy on the corner or his son (30 tank mts man!) will take. All of our waters the same 8ph and 19dH/340ppm.
Theres bigger selection than I thought.
Guppys
Platys
Swordtails
LFWCMMs and normals.
LF Zebras/Leopards/Gold Zebras and normals.
LF Cherry Barbs and normals.
LF Rosy Barbs
Gold Dwarf Barbs.
XRay Tetras
Rosy Loaches
Black Corys (Venezuelan I believe?)
Otocinclus.

All including the normals were bought in groups of 6 from PAH and any deaths replaced by LF versions from lfs.
I won’t be taking any Livebearers/Rosy Barbs/Corys (too big) or XRay Tetras (MrsLurch doesn’t like see through fish.
I will be taking WCMMs, Cherry’s,Danios as they’re perfect for our water and temp. Not sure of Otos at all. Im thinking of Roseys and Gold Dwarfs as well. They’ve been living in our local water and LFS will no doubt be reselling them into our water anyway. Could be a bit crowded midwater though!

I can’t take em all at once which suits their owners as they’re moving in a couple of months time. First selection to be collected this weekend! Probably what’s easiest to catch!

Meant to ask do these Gold Zebra Danios colour up at home? They’re normally the drabbest most washed out fish in the shop.

i think they sometimes do, i saw a lot of photos and some perfectly happy ones had low color
i think they should at least get yellow on top

whats PAH again
i found an adoption fish site but i lost it :(

PAH = Pets at Home, a chain of pet stores with a fish department and a poor reputation.
Yeah.
The PAH they were bought from is under 5 mins walk from me. I pop in 3 or 4 times a week to look at the fish. I also pop in to 2 of the 3 LFS once a week as well. In all of them theres always a corpse or two on view.
Maybe there’s a difference in how long fish last after leaving the shop? Ive heard some awful advice given out in PAH to obvious newcomers though which I’ve not heard in the specialist shops. The specialist shops probably attract customers less in need of basic advice though.

The family who are moving have a kid who goes to school with the son of the feller with 30 tanks so he’s gave them a bit of advice. There’s no outrageously soft water fish frinstance. Most are ok in less high temps according to SF which suits me.
Theyre free but I’m gonna give them sone thing to treat the kids with.
