One of my 2 platy is quite ill. He has a touch of fin rot, and what appears to be a fungal infection on one side. He has also been flashing against the edge of the filter so has got a large inflamed area along the underside.
Im guessing this is a fungal infection, I have isolated him, and the rest of the tank seems fine. I will keep an eye on it though.
What im looking for now is the root cause of this. I have had the platy for 2 months now, and no changes have been made to the tank since then.

Tank: 10 US Gal
2 Platty (1 in there now)
2 Leopard Dannio
2 Glowlight tetra
1 neon tetra

pH 7.8 (It comes out of my taps at 8 and I mix in a little water from a jug filter (pH 6) to bring it down a shade)
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 15
GH 9
Kh 2

Any ideas where the problem could lie? Im guessing its the high pH but my other platy seems fine.

Thanks,

KF

I'm not sure, but the nitrates might be too high. I'm not sure what they should be at, though.

Of course, the best thing to do now is to make sure the water conditions stay good and that you treat the rot with a proprietary medicine.

Sidenote: Those tetras and danios should have bigger quarters to prevent hypoxia from lack of swimming room, and they should be kept in groups of at least 6 or so.
