What kind of substrate do you have? Could he have injured himself while digging around?

Hi pumaf1 :)

Your cory has an active bacterial infection and chances are the others you bought today have it too. Your best bet would be to take it back for a refund and buy some others from another store. :/

If you cannot or do not want to take them back, I would suggest that you treat them with Interpet's Anti Finrot and Fungus Medicine or Waterlife's Myxazin. It's also very important to keep the tank water very clean with frequent water changes and to keep the temperature no higher than 24 degrees C. until they are well. It might also be necessary to continue treatment longer than the directions suggest if the infection is not cleared up at that time.

Your success will depend on the strain of bacteria that your little guys are infected with. Some can get worse much more quickly than others and you might not cure them. On the other hand, other strains can be cured easily, even if not quickly. I regularly buy wild corys that have become infected during shipping and have had good luck curing them.

Whatever you decide, good luck to you and your corys! Please let me know what you decide to do. :D

the cory that has the red spot on his nose is much more lively today so I think I will treat them with meds.

I have some Interpet number 8 - Anti fungus and finrot, "cures fish of fungus, mouthrot, and finrot.

I teake it he he mouth rot of some sort?

changing the temp to 24degress now, now that wont have any effect on the neons?

the three little corys seem to be shoaling and digging around in the bottom

to answer wuvmybetta its a very fine smooth gravel.

so will the interpet stuff I have be okay?

Hi pumaf1 :)

Good for you! I'm glad you will be treating your cory and hope he gets well quickly.

Yes, the medicine you have is a good one. If you turn the temperature down slowly it shouldn't hurt the neons. Also make sure to do a good water change and keep the water in excellent condition throughout the treatment. This might mean doing extra ones and adding more medicine, but if the water quality is poor, they will not heal.

Good luck to you and your corys!
