I'll Call It A Tropical Dust Storm

So, i've had my 55 gal tank setup here in my basement for about 14 months, and it always seems that there is particles of something floating all over in the tank. the only thing i can think of is that it would be from the flake food maybe. i can only describe it as it looking like its always snowing dust inside the tank. i know it sounds stupid but maybe someone could tell me why its always like that. thankkks.

Maybe it is dust. Do you have an enclosed hood? Is it dusty in the basement?

can they be tiny air bubbles?

Have you tried chucking some carbon in your filter for a few days to see if that clears it?

Also, have you got daylight streaming through the tank? That can make it look like there are particles in the water.

If you suspect it may be food, then you may be feeding too much- it should be all gone in a matter of a few minutes.
