as u all no i have a angel fish, if i was to get rid of them to LFS what could i put in there??

so without them i would have:

1x Oscar,
2x silver sharks,
1x JD,
1x Polleni,
1x t-bar,
2x Plecos.

i was thinking about:
1x Jaguar,
1x texas,
and a red devil??

it would look a nice setup...

what you think?

what the oscar/jag/texas red devil and a poli?

id advise 100% against it, tanks to small for lots of aggresive cichlids and boy you have chosen the creme de la creme
i have been there done that with aggresive cichlids

1x Oscar,
2x silver sharks,
1x JD,
1x Polleni,
1x t-bar,
2x Plecos.

in what size tank (in gallons)? that is quite a hefty stocking of fish already.......

I wouldn't put any more fish in there because in 12months time, the Jack Dempsey (JD) and Oscar will be full grown, and in a couple of years time the silver sharks and plecos will be big. This will cause water quality issues unless you do regular maintenance. There is also going to be an aggression issue with the JD and Oscar. The JD in particular will probably try to take over the tank.

well i went to LFS today, and got 1 jaguar and a tiger barb,

btw my JD is a EBJD

You seem like someone that completely disregards advice and has no purpose being on these forums...... you have no initiative to do any sort of research for yourself before you impulse buy.

Frankly from the posts I've seen you make around here, you have absolutely no brain. What would make you think this was a good idea?

This was never a topic for you to get advice... you had already decided what you were going to do. Go make a video of your tank on youtube so people that know nothing about fishkeeping can "ooooooo" and "aaaaaahhhhh" at your setup. Seems that is what you prefer.

*agrees with Remz*

that tank is a death trap, maybe not now, maybe not next month but in the future your gonna have problems

tiger barbs only get to an inch or so long and need to be kept in groups. The fish will get eaten when the cichlids get bigger.
if you bought a jaguar cichlid, (Cichlasoma managuense) then you have sentenced all your other fishes to death. They are even more aggressive than the JD and oscar, and in a short time it will start to cause problems.

agreed 100% and trust me i know,
see my picture below of the jag and oscar, there no longer together as jag decided he would own the tank, attacking everything, tiger barb will be dinner, if not now in the future, mate you really need to look at stocking all these aggresive fish in a 5ft,,,remove the jag and your in with a chance,
my oscars were 6inches when i got the jag at 1.5inches,now hes 13inches grew soo fricken quick,,

oh the shop keeper said they will be ok :S,

ok so ill wait a while to take him back,

do you think i could put a Arowanna in there with them? when i take the Jag back??

or is that just worse??

seeing as some varities can grow up to 4 ft long, no i dont think that would be such a good idea in a 5ft tank

Well the shop keeper doesnt care he just wants you to buy the fish, he also doesnt care if the jag rips all the other fish you have to shreds, because heck you would then go back and buy even more unsuitable fish to feed him with.

And no, an arowana is not suitable with those fish or that tank size.

oh :( i relly like them, oh maybe in future,

any other fish i cud get wen i take the fish bk?

like suitable fish

the simple reply is that I find EBJDs to be a very weak fish and it will probably die anyways, the barb is toast and will most definatly be dinner, the jag and oscar will probably fight and get really beat up, I advise against getting more fish.
