yep, looks like a slightly stressed common plec,(one of the hypostomus species)

yeh i have just added it to the tank not long ago so it will be abit wary of its surroundings.

looks more like Pterygoplichthys than Hypostomus (probably Pardalis or Disjunctivus) but yes its a tank buster, expect at least 15 inches.
